The Poetry Of Product

Product development can be a beautiful thing. The more pure and honest the process is the better chance to create something truly valuable to a large swath of users.

When we started Eulerity, our mission was first and foremost to simplify the complex world of paid advertising for the business user. As my co-founder & CEO Tanuj Joshi likes to say “If it comes with a manual, it’s not worth your time”. The product has to be built on simplicity”.

While simplicity can be the underpinning foundation in truly breakthrough consumer products, business products have not always followed this rule. Often 3rd party teams are hired to manage marketing platforms on behalf a brand, incurring more cost to the enterprise who invested in automation to bring down their operating costs.

With the advent of the cloud, advancements in mobile computing power, and agile development, modern business solutions do not need 3rd party management. Enterprise SaaS solutions can be as easy to operate as writing an email.

Poetry is writing that formulates a concentrated imaginative awareness of experience in language chosen and arranged to create a specific emotional response through meaning, sound, and rhythm.

Like poetry, concentrating on customer challenges and user behavior informs your team to create the best possible response through a product that creates significant end user value.

As an example, I recently listened to how Jack Dorsey, Co-Founder/CEO of Twitter, describe how popular product features originated during the early days of Twitter. Twitter users & employees wanted to share tweets with their friends. Retweets were born. Then someone wanted to group & organize their tweets in a categorical format. #Hashtags were born. In both cases, these core features were developed by user behavior and helped redefine and expand the usability of Twitter at the time.

Poetry allows for creative expression and brings new dimensions to storytelling. A great self serve marketing product enables the same creative expression through intuitive enablement.

On any given week, we hear from new customers first trying out our product. You can judge by their tone everything. “I can’t believe how simple this is to use….this is like on demand customers…..I had completely given up on advertising until now”…

Feedback is information about reactions to a product which is used as basis for improvement. Our belief at Eulerity is centered around the intuitive nature of a product. If the customer experience is intuitive the more value it can create. It can also decrease customer frustration brought on my non intuitive technology.

Listening to your early customers and continuing to build on their needs provides the right recipe for success. While your team can learn and produce many of the ingredients to build the right product, they don’t have all the answers. Your customers do.

Just listen.
